Primary Genre(s): Bluegrass & Appalachian Folk
Album Length: 30 Minutes
Album Title: Clinch Mountain: Gossip, Fabrications
& Other Allegations
Artist: Wynonah Dove
Release Date: 22 Feb 2022
Wynonah Dove's songwriting weaves in and out of Appalachian folk, Americana & bluegrass traditions - creating tragedies and philosophical tales with a smidge of truth and biographical gossip. A self-described Appalachian-gypsy, Wynonah traded her birthplace on Virginia's Crooked Road in the coal fields for the perpetual sunshine of Australia in 2014. This fresh perspective from the other side of the world lent a healthy dose of homesickness to the creative process and led Wynonah to re-explore her hillbilly heritage deep in the Clinch Mountains of southwestern Virginia.
The album features four co-writes with Dwight Bishop (USA) and Geoff Andrew (Australia). Geoff also provided the lead bluegrass licks for “How Many Times”. Good friend, engineer, producer & GRAMMY award winner, David Castle (Best Album “Lost in the Lonesome Pines”, Ralph Stanley/Jim Lauderdale) features on lead acoustic guitar throughout the project as well as US production, mix and master. Tony Dingus (who has recorded with Ralph Stanley among others) provides legendary prowess on dobro and pedal steel. Rounding out the mix with stunning harmonies are Vicki Brown Helbert & Martha Hackney Conley on backing vocals.
